Project
SpringCity 30642 (Melbourne, AU)
SpringCity is a series of multisensory activations by MaggZ - situated within movement, sound, audio-visual experiences and physical installations. Inspired by MaggZ’s hometown of Kunming (Yunnan, China), SpringCity reimagines the city as a vision of the future, with each iteration responding to the SpringCity Manifesto. This Manifesto is a reflection of MaggZ’s ongoing research at the intersection of world-building, cyberfeminism, ancestral practices and archival investigations. Through a diasporic minority-Chinese lens, SpringCity aspires to offer bold and alternative dreaming spaces for those who don’t fit into a box of societal norms.

SpringCity 30642 is a multisensory interactive game-performance by MaggZ, situated within movement, sound, installation and technology. SpringCity 30642 transforms different spaces into a participatory game-design laboratory, to further investigate the idea of world-building and heterotopia, through a diasporic minority-Chinese lens. As such, to recontextualise localised ancestral practices of Kunming City (Yunnan Province, China) and club culture, through post-internet lens with body, sound, both physical and digital installation.
